Discover the Healing Power of Yoga with Amber Scott

Yoga is a return to wholeness. Through a mindful yoga practice we attend to what is ever-present.

Class encompasses physical and energetic practices. Amber Scott encourages each person to tune into their own intentions, while practicing in a group is uplifting and facilitates deepening. The effect of even one class can be quite strong.

Each session begins with a 20-30 minute SATYA sequence lying on the ground. SATYA is a somatic practice that informs the more classical yoga sequences. The emphasis is on pumping, rocking and unwinding movements that stimulate circulation and sensory awareness. SATYA offers a chance to notice how the body is feeling and to make space between the tissues, organs and internal structures so prana (energy) circulates more freely. It also trains the mind to stay attuned to what is coming up moment-to-moment.

Moving away from the floor, the emphasis is on conscious connection to the spine and its spontaneous structural adjustments. Yoga builds strength from energetic anchors in the body. Rather than forcing and pushing, the core structures are engaged to facilitate a safe and focused exploration of a range of movements. This encourages healing and strengthening and a healthy flexibility.

Paying close attention to physical alignment in the classical yoga postures is a practice of presence: noticing the sensations, learning when to let go and when to go further. The mind drops thoughts and misconceptions surrounding the body and can connect with what is actually happening. A tremendous release of tension can then take place and movements and postures that felt impossible can seem effortless.

Yoga is a healing, strengthening, limbering and restorative practice. In each session Amber also makes time for meditation and enquiry as integral to the path.

Amber Scott teaches regularly on Friday mornings as well as a 10 week beginner Yoga course on Mondays and weekend workshops.
