REST & REFUGE - SOMATIC & RESTORATIVE YOGA WORKSHOP

  • The Anderida Practice Forest Row, England, RH18 United Kingdom (map)

Everything in life is impermanent and always changing. Because nothing is permanent, a life based on possessing things or persons doesn't make you happy. There is no eternal, unchanging soul and "self" is just a collection of changing characteristics or attributes.

Inspired by the Buddha, the Dhamma, and by Thích Nhất Hạnh, we come together as a sangha to enjoy the practice of embodied mindfulness.

This workshop is profoundly gentle and restorative and will activate the vagus nerve and offer great refuge for the entire nervous system. In a session like this, we lay down, rest, pause, and breathe. All movements are slow, soft, gentle, easeful and without exertion.

There is a lot of stillness and resting in between gentle movements. This is a soothing meditative practice that offers insight and nourishment in and of itself to practitioners of all levels. It's also brilliant for beginners, meditators, and those suffering with illness, injury or fatigue.

Thích Nhất Hạnh (1926 - 1922) was a Vietnamese Thiền Buddhist monk, peace activist, prolific author, poet and teacher, who founded the Plum Village Tradition, historically recognized as the main inspiration for engaged Buddhism. Known as the "father of mindfulness", Nhất Hạnh was a major influence on Western practices of Buddhism
