NATUROPATHIC NUTRITION

Nutrition is now widely recognised as a vital component of overall health and well-being. The last decades have seen a significant rise in chronic disease the world over, and so the importance of what we eat is perhaps more relevant than ever. As a result, Nutritional Therapy is fast becoming one of the most sought-after solutions for addressing all aspects of health on the most fundamental of levels. Nutrition is very much based in the sciences, yet can be used as a completely natural approach to healthcare, with none of the harsh side effects that pharmacological solutions can have.

The aim of Nutritional Therapy is to assess and identify nutritional imbalances, through looking at diet, environmental and emotional factors and understand how they may be causing or contributing to disease states. The emphasis is on root cause rather than masking the symptoms, as this can only last for so long. There is no one size that fits all when it comes to nutrition, and treatment plans are very much based on an individual’s needs.

Naturopathic Nutrition is a branch of Nutritional Therapy that keeps its feet firmly planted in both the nutritional sciences as well as Naturopathy. Naturopathic Nutrition differs from more orthodox approaches due to the stronger emphasis it places on the use of natural, whole foods. Naturopathic Nutritionists are also able to use adjuvant methods for restoring balance on a physiological and emotional level, such as plant medicine, essential oils and other natural healing tools.

Using nutrition as a form of natural healthcare is very much an active process and can take time and dedication. However, the benefits of this go far beyond healing symptoms and disease, as the process itself is incredibly empowering and in most cases will have a ripple effect across all aspects of life in a beautiful and miraculous way.

Olivia Shakespear

Olivia has always had an interest in health and healing and initially worked as an occupational therapist in the NHS for a number of years. After realizing this wasn't her path, she decided to focus on her passion for nutrition and trained as a naturopathic nutritionist at the College of Naturopathic Medicine in London, qualifying in 2014 with a Diploma in Nutritional Therapy. She is a registered member of the Naturopathic Nutrition Association and has a NCFE CACHE level 2 certificate in counselling skills.

Olivia specializes in supporting people with binge eating disorder as well as those who feel they have an unhealthy relationship with food. Olivia uses nutrition in a truly holistic way, understanding that the role of food goes much deeper than simply providing us with nutrients to maintain a healthy body. Just as humans are energetic beings, the foods we eat also hold frequencies that either support or deplete our energy field. However, when using nutritional therapy with people who have an imbalanced relationship with food, it is essential to avoid the pitfalls of "clean eating". Olivia carefully balances all these factors within her work.

Recovering from binge eating or disordered eating requires a great deal of support. This is why Olivia works with clients for a minimum of 12 weeks. Programs contain the following:

·       General health assessment and deep dive into relationship with food.

·       Library of educational and support materials. This includes information on nutrition,  including recipes and managing emotional aspects.

·       Personal support plan with any additional guidance based on health assessment and initial consultation.

·       Education and guidance on why someone binge eats and how to prevent or overcome the urges to binge.

·       Emotional support and guidance around other activities to encourage the recovery process.

·       Regular zoom sessions with WhatsApp/phone support in between.

 Programs start from £345

Free 30 Minute Mini Consultation

I offer this not only as a way to provide a little support to get you on your way, but also this gives you a chance to see if my programs would be a fit, rather than committing to 3 months straight away. To book you can either contact me directly or book via my website where you will also be able to download a copy of my free Recovery Guide.
