NATUROPATHIC NUTRITION
Nutrition is now widely recognised as a vital component of overall health and well-being. The last decades have seen a significant rise in chronic disease the world over, and so the importance of what we eat is perhaps more relevant than ever. As a result, Nutritional Therapy is fast becoming one of the most sought-after solutions for addressing all aspects of health on the most fundamental of levels. Nutrition is very much based in the sciences, yet can be used as a completely natural approach to healthcare, with none of the harsh side effects that pharmacological solutions can have.
The aim of Nutritional Therapy is to assess and identify nutritional imbalances, through looking at diet, environmental and emotional factors and understand how they may be causing or contributing to disease states. The emphasis is on root cause rather than masking the symptoms, as this can only last for so long. There is no one size that fits all when it comes to nutrition, and treatment plans are very much based on an individual’s needs.
Naturopathic Nutrition is a branch of Nutritional Therapy that keeps its feet firmly planted in both the nutritional sciences as well as Naturopathy. Naturopathic Nutrition differs from more orthodox approaches due to the stronger emphasis it places on the use of natural, whole foods. Naturopathic Nutritionists are also able to use adjuvant methods for restoring balance on a physiological and emotional level, such as plant medicine, essential oils and other natural healing tools.
Using nutrition as a form of natural healthcare is very much an active process and can take time and dedication. However, the benefits of this go far beyond healing symptoms and disease, as the process itself is incredibly empowering and in most cases will have a ripple effect across all aspects of life in a beautiful and miraculous way.

Olivia Shakespear, Lightwork Nutrition
Dip NNT, mNNA, NCFE CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Counselling
I’ve always had an interest in health and healing. I initially worked as an Occupational Therapist in the NHS but quickly realised this wasn’t my path! And so ended up training as a Naturopathic Nutritionist at The College of Naturopathic Medicine in London, qualifying in 2014.
Naturopathic Nutrition stresses the use of natural, whole foods as a foundational part of healing. This has always been the way in indigenous societies, but today on a global scale we are seeing the return of chemical-free foods and other nutrition-based measures as a wonderful answer to many health conditions.
I believe nutrition can be used in a truly holistic way, understanding that the role of food goes much deeper than simply providing us with nutrients to maintain a healthy body. Just as humans are energetic beings, the foods we eat also hold frequencies that either support or deplete our energy. Once you start to see food in this way it becomes more interesting!
Nutritional therapy is fantastic for any condition, but especially so for chronic health problems. It’s about understanding the root causes, and using food, supplements and lifestyle changes to restore balance in very specific and targeted ways.
I work as both a general nutritional therapist for issues related to: Gut health, Autoimmune conditions, Hormone Health, Skin Health, poor Energy Levels, Cardiovascular Health and Weight Management. Please do not feel limited by what’s here.
I also have separate programs for people who struggle with uncontrolled eating, binge eating and compulsive overeating. Please see my website for details and for a free Recovery Guide.
